Portuguese as a Foreign Language

1. Target Groups
Level I - Beginners Course
Targeted at students who wish to acquire or consolidate the basic structures of
the Portuguese language.
Level II – Intermediate Course
Targeted at students who have some knowledge of the Portuguese language but want
to consolidate and develop improve their skills.
2. Program Outline
Course organization: For each level, 4 hours per week.
Total number of teaching hours: 60
Level 1 - Beginners Course
Aims: the acquisition and practice of the basic structures of the Portuguese
language using the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Level 2 – Intermediate Course
Aims: the improvement and development of structures of the Portuguese language
using the four skills: listening, speaking, reading and writing.
3. Enrolment and Tuition
The enrolment and tuition fee is 200 € for each level. This fee is payable in
three instalments: the first, 75 € upon enrolment, the second instalment, 75 €
must be paid one month after the course has begun, the final instalment, 50 €,
on the third month of the course.
N.B. the courses are gratuitous for all students taking them within the ambit of
Erasmus program or Campus Europa Agreement.
Payment can be made in three ways:
- By means of a cheque made out to the Universidade de Aveiro
- By means of a bank transfer in favour of Universidade de Aveiro. The bank is
Caixa Geral de Depósitos.

These courses commence at roughly the same time as the established academic year
and include the established holidays and breaks.

Enrolment and the starting date of the course will be confirmed.
Course Attendance Certificates will be given to all the students who attend at
least 75% of all classes. Students will have to sit the examination in order to
obtain the Diploma.
4. Additional Information
Students are responsible for making their own accommodation reservations.

Meals can be taken in the University canteens, restaurant, self-service
restaurant and cafeterias on Campus.
